Brian's First Track and Field Meet

Brian participated in the discus and the shot put.
In the discus he threw 55.6 feet.

In the shot put he threw 20.6 feet.

Not too shabby for his first time, eh? I can't wait to see what he does next time.

Brian hangin' out with the BSU players.

As you can see by the grin on his face, Brian was pretty excited to meet some of the 2010-2011 Boise State players.
Father and son with the Tostito's Fiesta Bowl trophy. BSU won of course.

Grandpa Arnett and Brian. (I like how the trophy is sitting on top of the carrier it came in and all they have to do is put up the four sides and it's good to go.)

Brian (in the background, running towards #49) got to run drills with the players. A dream come true for a young man who dreams of playing for BSU someday....after his mission!

Allie's 10th Birthday!

April 14, my little girl turns 10!
She too wanted a clown ice cream dessert.
She got this mask making kit from Grandma and Grandpa Owings.
Her big bro gave her a pack of gum, she gave him a big smooch.

Viva, Las Vegas Day 5: Ready to go home!

After several days in "sin city" it was nice to be on temple grounds.

We weren't able to go inside but it was nice to just be there.
I love taking the kids to different temples.

I love all the different types of architecture of the temples.

and I love the detail that is put into them.

One of the spires.

On the way back home looking outside my window. On the way to Vegas these same rocks were so beautifully colored I was moved to tears. The kids like to make fun of how sensitive I've become.

We stopped in St. George for lunch and to look at the St. George Temple. It was the first working temple in Utah.

Besides the gray sky, it was beautiful.

This tree reminds me of a family tree. I just loved it.

Another cute little window.

I love the beehive shapes on the front of the stairs.

Such a different style than I've seen on other temples. Of course I've only seen 6 so far.

I think this is one of my favorite temples.

On the road again. Looking out my window heading towards Salt Lake City.

As we got closer the mountains got more beautiful.

We finally got there and hated to stop to eat at another fast food restaurant, but it's cheap and we're on a budget, so Arby's it is!

Dad is so tired from driving 2250 miles in 6 days, but we had a great time!

Viva, Las Vegas Day 4

This was inside the Venetian Hotel, and I waited forever for the people in the background to leave but they just wouldn't and the kids were getting impatient.

Live statues at St. Mark's Square. The kids thought that was really cool.

At the front of Maddame Tussuad's Wax Museum. It was way to expensive to go in, so we just posed with Harrison Ford outside.

The fountain in front of the Paris Hotel

This army guy was cool, he moved around like a machine and made sounds to match. Brian got to check out his bazooka.

The infamous Welcome to Las Vegas sign. It's been here since the 50's.

We went to the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory only to discover that they stopped making chocolate before 3:00pm. So we checked out the cactus garden outside the store instead. I think this was one of my favorite parts of our vacation. Brian taught us all about cactus and told lots of stories about getting hurt by them growing up in Arizona.

This is a barrel cactus of some sort.

This is a type of prickly pear, but I'm not sure what type.

This is a traditional prickly pear. It looks painful. Brian use to make darts out of the needles.

These are the ends of a Joshua Tree.

A Saguaro (sue-r-o) cactus in the background with no arms.

After the cactus gardens we visited a huge aquarium and even saw a live mermaid.

After a lot of walking and sight seeing, it was time to just have fun at the midway at Circus Circus. Nadia won a prize getting the chicken into the pot. Allie didn't have as good of luck on this one.

Caitlyn really wanted to win this monkey and spent $7 trying. The lady felt bad for her and just gave it to her. I tried to tell her this was just gambling for children, but she didn't care. She wanted that monkey. I see a resemblance, maybe she thought it was a long lost relative.

After playing games it was time for a circus act. We got lucky to watch the flying trapeze artists. This was the best one!

And well, while in Vegas, try to make millions, right? He almost won $500 on one play, but that was enough for him. I hate wasting money.
